Material: Zirconia (Zirconium Dioxide)
Form: Blank (a pre-shaped, uncut disk of zirconia)
Applications:
Full Crowns: Zirconia is used for full crowns due to its exceptional strength and durability. Full crowns cover and protect teeth that have experienced significant damage or decay.
Restorations: Suitable for both anterior (front) and posterior (back) teeth, depending on the required translucency and aesthetics.
Fabrication Process:
CAD/CAM Technology: Zirconia blanks are used with computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) systems. A digital design of the crown is created and milled from the zirconia blank.
Sintering: After milling, the crown is sintered at high temperatures to enhance strength and density and improve translucency.
Finishing: The sintered crown is polished or glazed to achieve a smooth, natural appearance. Additional staining or coloring may be applied to match the shade of adjacent teeth.
