The A axis offers full rotation (+/- 360°) and the B axis has a range of 25° to 115°. The machine features an automatic milling drill mount with a drill of 4mm diameter and 56mm length. Precautions and specific parameter setting suggestions for different materials:
1. Cutting parameter settings:
Spindle speed:
Zirconium oxide: The recommended spindle speed is between 30,000 and 50,000 RPM. Zirconia with higher hardness requires higher speed to avoid excessive friction between the tool and the material.
PMMA: 20,000 to 30,000 RPM can be selected. Since PMMA material is soft, high speed helps reduce material adhesion during cutting.
PEEK: 15,000 to 25,000 RPM is suitable. This material has a lower hardness and does not require too high a speed.
Feed speed:
Zirconium oxide: The feed speed is generally set to 100 to 200 mm/min. Too high a feed speed may cause excessive tool wear or cracks on the material surface.
PMMA: The feed speed can be set to 200 to 400 mm/min, which helps improve production efficiency.
PEEK: Feed rate is 150 to 300 mm/min. The cutting process of this material is relatively smooth. Moderate feed rate can balance efficiency and tool life.
Cutting depth:
Zirconium oxide: It is recommended to set the cutting depth between 0.1 and 0.2 mm each time. Zirconia is hard, and too deep cutting may cause excessive burden on the tool and affect accuracy.
PMMA and PEEK: The cutting depth can be increased appropriately. 0.2 to 0.3 mm is a more ideal depth setting.
2. Cooling and lubrication:
For hard materials such as zirconium oxide, it is recommended to use air or high-pressure air cooling.
When milling PMMA and PEEK, appropriate lubricants can be used to reduce heat accumulation during cutting and improve cutting surface quality.
3. Tool selection and maintenance:
Tool selection: For hard materials such as zirconium oxide, high-quality carbide tools or coated tools should be used, which can withstand high temperatures and increase tool life. For softer materials such as PMMA and PEEK, ordinary hard steel tools can meet the requirements.
Tool wear monitoring: Regularly check the tool wear status during the milling process. If the tool is found to be worn, it should be replaced in time to avoid affecting the processing accuracy and surface quality.
