Low Cost Dental Crown
Mar 15, 2019|
Crowns are a commonplace treatment used by your dentist to improve either the strength or the appearance of teeth.
This very effective and very affordable dental restoration treatment completely caps or encircles a damaged or discoloured tooth – or in some instances, a dental implant.
Crowns are very often the logical choice when a tooth is threatened by a very large cavity, and simply doesn’t have the structural integrity to take yet another filling. The new crown is bonded to your natural tooth using a special form of dental cement which sets to form a super-strong finish that you can totally rely on for all your biting or eating.
Crowns can be made from a number of materials, but the porcelain model is normally the one your dentist will opt for. Modern crown technology look and feel exactly like your natural teeth, and the old-style dark metal ‘halo’ that typified crowns of previous generations is now no longer present.
Types of Crowns
Crowns can be made from a number of different materials, but the porcelain model is normally one your dentist will opt for. With modern crown technology it is possible to achieve a look and feel that is exactly like natural teeth. We offer three types of crowns:
PFM (Porcelain fused-to-metal)
A PFM crown is typically used on pre-molars and molars as they do not have the same aesthetic result as a full porcelain or zirconium crown, and they cost less also. They are hard wearing crowns and a great choise for back teeth.
E.max (full porcelain)
An E.max crown is the most popular crown , the full porcelain crown gives an excellent aesthetic look for front teeth and canines. The dentist will work with the patient to achieve a shade and shape that matches the other teeth. Full porecelain crowns are an excellent choice becuase they do not stain and have a very long lifespan.
Zirconium Crowns
similarly, a zirconium crown is a strong material that will also give a great aesthetic look. Zirconium tends to be a bit stronger than porcelain and is sometimes are better choice for certain patients. The dentist will talk the patient throught he various options and help chose the closest shade and shape to match other teeth.
Dental Bridge
A bridge is a dental restoration method used to replace a missing tooth by joining a fabricated tooth, permanently, to the adjacent teeth or dental implants. Types of bridges may vary, depending upon how they are fabricated and the way they are ‘anchored’ to the adjacent teeth. Bridges are made by a technican in a Laboratory and fitted to your teeth by your dentist.
A bridge is accommadeted in the mouth by ‘reducing’ the teeth on either side of the missing tooth or teeth. The prepared bridge is then placed in the mouth and cemented to the now prepared adjacent teeth.
